Located on hundred and twenty feet of beautiful waterfront property on Lake Washington in Denny Blaine neighborhood this stately Mediterranean style home was designed by William Bain and built in the 1920s. Since then it suffered decades of neglect and several poorly executed additions. We were asked to undo earlier transgressions and carefully restore it to its former splendor and to enable families to enjoy worry-free for the next ninety years.
Accessed from a street below steeply sloping hillside this 12,000 square foot home required a number of improvements and alterations while remaining sensitive to the original architecture and as invisible as possible in execution. In addition to restoration efforts a series of extensive buildings were added including a new garage/carriage house, entertainment room, and entry courtyard with elevator access. On the interior every partition was removed with the exception of the historic living room and library. Our clients asked us to reconfigure every room including the kitchen, family room, all bathrooms, and all bedrooms.
