Located on the west slope of Capitol Hill with sweeping views of city skyline and Olympic Mountains, this extensive renovation of an existing flat roofed home, was built in the early 1950s. Every room in the house was torn down to the studs and reconfigured. In addition, a second story was added to the home as well as a full basement. The result is a home that is totally new and vibrant in its expression.
This home’s design signature includes the upturned wing shaped roofs, which make the home appear to soar above the surrounding trees. Floor to ceiling glass on the west side of the living room and master bedroom suites take full advantage of views of the city, lake, and mountains. A number of dramatic blackened steel details were integrated into the design including the structure of the main staircase.
